Recently at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Nevada, USA, HP displayed to the world its brand new Envy 14 Spectre laptop. Now although it may not be a self opening and fixing laptop it is certainly a glance into the future, at least the future HP sees us having. Yet there are those who feel it has fallen short of what they expected, thank God they are the slim minority.

The Envy 14 Spectre has been called a “premium ultrabook” and has taken all that we have loved about HP’s Envy line and put it to a laptop that is .78-inches and weights 3under 4 pounds. Frankly there is quite a bit to talk about with this laptop both inside and out. There is a palmrest and glass lid that is scratch-proof, a display that is of high resolution and also bright, and NFC integration. Here is a bit about the new ultrabook from HP.

Although the Spectre is not as light as others in its class it boasts adequate number of ports. You get Ethernet ports, Minidisplay, HDMI, and two USB ports. Sadly the USB ports are right beside each other so plugging in two peripherals will be tricky.

The keyboard is backlit, with soft coating keys and well spaced. The touchpad is coated in Gorilla Glass and also has integrated buttons. Two finger scrolling is easy and smooth.

The display has a 1600 x 900 resolution and is 14 inches thus brightness and viewing angles are pretty good.

The price of the Envy 14 Spectre is about $1,399, slightly more than the cost of tattoo removal, for its base configuration. Here you get a 128GB mSATA SSD, 4GB Ram, and a Core i5-2467M processor. Other configuration options will be available very soon to appease the faithful according to HP.
